Philadelphia City Rowing offers a FREE Middle School Program that introduces students in 7th and 8th grade to the sport of rowing. Students must attend a Philadelphia Public or Charter school to participate in the program.

Practices are located at Lloyd Hall, #1 Boathouse Row, on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 4:15-6:30 pm. Students will learn about rowing through both on-the-water and land workouts. In addition, PCR provides a general introduction to fitness, nutrition education, and environmental education.

Swim lessons (when pool time is available) will be on Saturdays from 1-2 pm and are tentatively scheduled for April but will be based on our ability to secure pool time from one of our program partners. Life jackets will be provided for anyone who needs to improve their swimming skills. Further details will be provided once we get closer to that time.

This year we will be having two Spring Sessions! The First session will be dedicated to our “veterans” of Fall ‘21 and Summer ‘21. The 2nd session will be dedicated strictly to newcomers as we introduce them to the sport.

  • First Session Dates (Vets): 3/28/2022-4/23/2022
  • 2nd Session Dates (Newbies): 5/9/2022-6/2/2022
