Our participants report that PCR "feels like family." PCR values the community that we create within our organization and empower student-athletes to be good citizens of the broader Philadelphia community. We also promote volunteer civic engagement activities through collaborations with other organizations and service opportunities for participants.
Join the Boosters Club
At PCR, we encourage our families to get involved with our program. In 2012, the parents formed a Booster Club. This was established to benefit our student-athletes. Their efforts help us build a stronger PCR community and meet our mission of using rowing as a tool for empowerment. All the proceeds raised by the Booster Club go directly toward benefitting the team.
Parents and the Boosters Club provide food at the regattas, volunteer with the Philadelphia Scholastic Rowing Association (PSRA), Stotesbury Regatta and Head of the Schuylkill. Anyone can join the Booster Club. The minimum donation is $20 per person to join. Click below to use PayPal to join the Booster Club or download the application form and mail it to us.
Volunteer with PCR
The fantastic work of our volunteers has not gone unnoticed. In 2010, Philadelphia Magazine recognized PCR for volunteer opportunities with a Best of Philly award! We are currently looking for committed volunteers to serve as Assistant Coaches and Mentors for our upcoming seasons. As our program continues to grow, we need additional mentors to provide support for our rowers.
ASSISTANT COACHES
PCR's programming aims to instill hard work, discipline, and teamwork in our athletes. Assistant coaches work with the Head Coach to implement practices on land and on-water with the aim of improving athletes’ technique, strength, and speed. Like all adults in our program, assistant coaches are also expected to serve as role models to our athletes, and thus must conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times. We ask our volunteer coaches to commit to one consistent time a week. Our practices are held weekdays from 4:15-6:30pm and Saturdays 9-2pm. If you are interested in volunteering as an assistant coach, please contact george@philadelphiacityrowing.org.
TUTORS
PCR relies on volunteer tutors to assist in our academic support program. Our tutors provide homework help and subject specific assistance. Tutoring sessions take place on Mondays at 4:30pm at our indoor facility at 4017 Cambridge Street. If you are interested in volunteering as a tutor, please contact emily@philadelphiacityrowing.org.

Friends are professionals from around the Philadelphia area who use their personal and professional skills and networks to support PCR's mission. We organize PCR's annual Friendsgiving fall fundraiser and other social events to help raise funds and spread the word about PCR's important work. We also plan enrichment opportunities and participate in community service events alongside PCR athletes.
