PCR is committed to ensuring that all our student-athletes have the swimming proficiency to safely participate in on-the-water activities. We provide swim lessons and water safety instruction to all of our participants. Through our collaborative relationship with Temple University, we are able to utilize their pool to support this program.
SWIM LESSON INFO
All lessons and swim tests take place at TEMPLE UNIVERSITY from 2- 4 PM on Saturdays. The pool is located at McGonigle Hall on the corner of Broad Street and Montgomery Ave (Across from the Liacouras Center). Upon arrival at Temple McGonigle Hall, student-athletes will be directed to the locker room and parents to the pool deck.
Please arrive by 1:50 to get changed in locker rooms which are located in the basement by the pool. Take stairs behind the front security desk. At the bottom of the stairs exit the stairwell, enter the hallway and follow signs to the pool. Please wear a swimsuit or swim trunks and a towel. Please bring goggles that fit if you have them.
For high school participants, the swim test will include 5 lengths of the pool without stopping or touching the bottom and 5 minutes of treading water. If you do not pass on the first try you will be able to return to the pool on consecutive Saturdays (see the calendar on PCR website) for some swim lessons.
For middle school & summer camp participants, the swim test will include 2 lengths of the pool without stopping or touching the bottom and 2 minutes of treading water. Participants that do not pass the swim test on their first try will be enrolled in swim lessons that will begin the following Saturday.
