At PCR, we believe that by providing nutrition education, mentoring, enrichment, swimming, and academic support in conjunction with a highly structured athletic program, we can improve the academic achievement, health outcomes, and personal development of our participants.
All of these components are incorporated into each of PCR’s programs, each of which is tailored to suit different age groups and levels of experience. They include competitive rowing for high schoolers (school year), recreational rowing for middle schoolers (school year and summer), learn-to-row camps for high schoolers (summer), learn-to-row camps for middle schoolers (summer).
Rowing is a demanding sport that requires exceptional discipline, perseverance, and teamwork. PCR reinforces these values to help student-athletes apply them in all aspects of their lives. PCR strives to provide an atmosphere that encourages excellence, teamwork, accountability, and sportsmanship.
Our multi-faceted programming leverages staff, volunteers, and community partners to provide all PCR student-athletes with a variety of services and opportunities for growth and development. We actively recruit students who have the most to gain from our programming and to ensure that all of our participants benefit from a team environment that reflects the rich racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic diversity of Philadelphia.
