Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Philadelphia City Rowing! We rely on the support of volunteers in order to deliver this unique program to hundreds of kids each year, entirely free of cost.
The fantastic work of our volunteers has not gone unnoticed. In 2010, Philadelphia Magazine recognized PCR for it's volunteering with a Best of Philly award! We are currently looking for committed volunteers to serve as Assistant Coaches and Mentors for our upcoming seasons. As our program continues to grow, we need additional mentors to provide support for our rowers. Please see below for a description of these positions and the time commitment required of each.
PCR is a competitive program that aims to instill hard work, discipline and team work in our athletes. Assistant coaches work with the Head Coach to implement practices on land and on water with the aim of improving athletes’ technique, strength, and speed. Like all adults in our program, assistant coaches are also expected to serve as role models to our athletes, and thus must conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times.
If you are interested in volunteering as an assistant coach, please submit the inquiry form below, and we will get back to you shortly!
The PCR Team Mentoring Program combines a group of young athletes from our program with a caring team of patient adults that can serve as positive role models. This is meant to provide our young athletes with the support and encouragement they need to succeed in rowing and other aspects of life. Team Mentoring requires a tremendous amount of understanding and patience to develop fruitful and trusting relationships with our athletes and their families. However, the rewards are great and can last a lifetime. The Team Mentoring approach allows for more interactions and mentor flexibility. As everyone becomes busier, the Team of Mentors can rely on each other while continuing to maintain productive interactions with our rowers.
If you are interested in mentoring with PCR, please read through the Handbook to learn more about the expectations and requirements of the team mentoring program. If you believe you have what it takes to be a part of the PCR Team Mentoring Program, please click the Inquiry link above and fill out a form. We will get back to you shortly!
