3rd Manny Flick Shows Continued Improvement for PCR

The Novice Girls 4+ started racing bright and early and set the bar high for the rest of their teammates. Showing that their decisive victory in the Novice 8+ last week was no joke, the Darya, Nori, Summer, Anna and Ashley stormed off the line going on to win their race by  a whopping 17 seconds.

The Girls Varsity 4+ (four with coxswain) finished up the racing for the Girls Team with some tight racing in their flight. Lindsay, Emily, Taylor, Morgan and Stephanie were battling for places throughout the race and finished in a competitive 4th place. Despite this being their 2nd year of rowing, these girls are showing that they deserve to be there on the Varsity level.

The Boys Novice 4+ kicked off the afternoon racing for the Boys. This was a very new lineup and the boys demonstrated their flexibility by rowing to a strong 6th place finish in a very challenging heat. We see much more speed out of these boys as they get more water time together.

Third time was the charm for the Boys Novice 8+. Taking a cue from the Novice Girls, these boys pounded down the course and finished with a comfortable lead of 13 seconds. Hopefully the the boy's coxswain, Isaiah Thomas, didn't hurt his neck too much when trying to turn around and see where the competition was!

Sweet redemption was the theme for the Boys Varsity 4+. After a great week of practice, the boys were ready to put up a fight, and they had some motivation-- the Manhasset Boys Varsity 4+ who beat them by almost 8 seconds at the Bill Braxton Regatta in November, was in their race. The boys stayed focused and had a controlled attack and was able to out-sprint Manhasset at the wire to win by a bow ball (0.26 seconds). Similar to the Varsity Girls, these boys have proved that they deserve to be competing at this level, and people are watching.

Last but not least was the Boys Varsity 4x. The boat, comprised of Sebastian Arcila, Sabir Hossain, Jarred Schackelford and Rashan Brooks, had only trained together this week and rowed to a fantastic 4th place effort.

A job well-done by our athletes and coaches!  Also a huge thanks to the parents who kept our athletes well fed to all of our mentors, parents, family and friends who came down to support PCR! The kids will be kept busy this week during spring training, we are looking forward to more speed come Manny Flick #4 on April 15th.
