Best of Philly 2010
On July 28th, Philadelphia City Rowing attended Philadelphia Magazine’s annual “Best of Philly” party, where we were recognized as the Best Volunteering opportunity in the city. We are honored to receive this award on behalf of all of the current staff and volunteers who work so hard to give our kids a great experience, and who have fun doing it! Shout out to our Haverford interns, our swim instructors, our volunteer coaches from up and down the Row as well as outside of the city, and the many individuals working behind the scenes.
From page 144 of the August issue: Pull out the old college crew tee (and your lats, if you still got ‘em) for this worthy cause. Competitive rower and Wharton student Libby Peters started PCR, which aims to form a team for public high-schoolers this fall, and needs mentors and assistant coaches to pitch in each season. She’s already commandeered a boatyard near Lloyd Hall, and signed up 100 kids who are itching to get out on the water.
